The only reason for this website and the writing of this story is to tell the real truth about a Michigan business icon that the Media has turned a blind eye to for decades and to clear my name from any alleged wrong doings. It has been said that "what goes around comes around" and "he'll get his just desserts", but based on the actual experiences I share with you here, it appears that there is no karma or other universal balancing of the scales, and there will always be those that get away with murder (metaphorically speaking of course). This site and the compelling story shared within was inspired by one man who has absolutely no reservations about who he rips off, takes advantage of, and cares nothing about the extreme damage he does to others and their families. I am sure that there are many other stories like mine as I have been contacted by a significant number of people who have been treated similarly by this grossly unscrupulous individual. One of the greatest ironies about this account is that this specific individual at the core of the story has achieved great notoriety as an overly generous, benevolent businessman and is a local icon, similar to Bernie Madoff. It would appear to many, that money could buy almost anything, including positive public opinion. Sadly, almost no one really knows what actually goes on behind the scenes and how many other countless innocent people this tainted flame has so severely burned. It is my hope that through relating this compelling story and through the official court documentation that supports it, that it will help others avoid being taken advantage of, ripped off, or even possibly losing their own businesses as well as their livelihood. No one should be forced to endure what I, and so many countless others have at the unclean hands of Archie Van Elslander, which is the real name of the person also known as Art Van. This is not about the cheap inferior furniture that he peddles to the public, but how he rips off small businesses for services they rendered on his behalf. I almost named this book "F**k You - Sue Me" since I (and many others) heard that phrase most often directly from Art Van when he owes you money and refused to pay. Even though he has clear and well-documented contracts, the most common way for him to respond and resolve the issue was for you the victim to file a lawsuit against him. With the total disregard for prearranged contractual terms, on Art Van's part, and what commonly appears to be acts of premeditated breach of contract is "status quo" for his way of doing business. If you are considering doing business with Art Van (aka Archie Van Elslander) think long and hard about its consequences and stay away. The opportunity may sound great at first, but you will never be properly compensated for your services. At least it was nice to know that I am not alone in exposing this grossly corrupt and unethical individual. There have even been other published books that are about Art Van and his lack of scruples. The author, Mark Steel, has previously published and released two books about his own experience with Art Van that provides other dark profiles of a man who has absolutely no honor. According to the first book "Grosse Pointe Pimp" that even his spouse, Marianne Van Elslander, who has given him 10 children, has fallen victim of infidelity on behalf of her husband, Art Van. (Sources have revealed that Art Van has left his wife Marianne and now resides in Bloomfield Township with an ex-stripper named Lorin Spence.) That book, and his second book "Grosse Pointe Inferno" detail the stories of the infamous "Max Lexington" who is commonly identified as Art Van by critics and the press. According to sources on the Internet, Mark Steel was forced to use the alias "Max Lexington" due to the likelihood of a liable lawsuit or other punitive action from Archie Van Elslander. Since these two books are based on his own personal accounts, there was not any sustainable proof of the events in the story. For years, Mark Steel served as Art Van's personal valet, bodyguard, and chauffer along with being the captain on Art Van's personal yacht. There are rumors that Mark Steel is soon to release a third book about his experiences with Art Van. Unlike with Mark's story, mine is based on a well-documented lawsuit against Art Van, which I won, and I am not worried about a liable lawsuit from him because its all based on a documented lawsuit is all true and public knowledge. My story, however, is quite different. I am an extremely meticulous person and keep detailed records. I also refuse to be taken advantage of, and did not have a family to put in harms way by resisting the horrific abuse and threats of Archie Van Elslander. Art Van personally ripped me off, so I took a stand and took him and his grossly unethical attorney, Fred Keywell, to court and won. It was not easy; it took over 8 years because they appealed it all the way through the Michigan Supreme Court and still lost. All the official court documents including but not limited to: affidavits, depositions, investigation records and actual court transcripts will prove it without any doubt and I will make them all available when the book is formally published. It's the numerous unbelievable details in this true compelling story that may make you feel that you are reading a script for The Sopranos. Death threats, intimidation, and the sense of a character that acts as though he is "above the law" make for a very riveting and entertaining read. They even attempted to use an alleged association with the Mafia to keep me from shutting down the project and suing them for "breach of contract", "fraud" and "nonpayment" along with several other civil counts. Over the coming months, I hope to gather comments and accounts from others who have also been duped and victimized by this spineless and ruthless so-called businessman. I encourage you to send links of my website to others and anyone that enjoys hearing the unbiased "real truth" about people they are or even in fact may be doing business with. If you really want to protect someone from being swindled and ripped off, they must read this fascinating story. At least, it provides an education on how even a very experienced and savvy individual can be shafted and ripped off by someone with no scruples whatsoever. During the course of writing this book, I have discovered that my story is actually just a snowflake on an iceberg of deceit, double-crosses and swindles and I hope to garner more accounts that I can share with you here. NO ONE and I mean NO ONE should have to endure what so many others and I have at the unclean hands of this grossly unscrupulous businessman, his ruthless staff of lackeys, his grossly unethical attorneys, and of course the media who have turned a blind eye to his corrupt business activities for decades because they are afraid they may forsake the advertising dollars. I actually do have a fear for my life with all the alleged Mafia death threats and the others that were used in the attempt to deter me from filing a lawsuit against them. I have received death threats, machinegun fire, bomb explosions and intimidations from Art Van and his attorney, Fred Keywell that would make most people just turn and run away in fear or even just leave town! If in fact anything should fatally happen to me, please contact the authorities and have them investigated because I do believe that some people will do anything without any remorse to protect themselves. Even with this fear, I feel you should know what you may be facing if you don't learn from my experience. Sometimes it takes a crowd to stand up and face down the bully. It has been stated from many readers that this is a true modern day "David & Goliath" story and a must read. A few others have commented that even Hollywood could not have written this story. In fact, with all the corruption that is in the media these days, many have stated that this story has the making of a great movie. There have been many solicited newspaper articles, TV and Radio interviews to contradict the real truth about his exceedingly unscrupulous character and unethical behavior. If any if this was not true, believe me, Art Van would have sued me months ago for slander. He is an evil evil man, just like Bernie Madoff.
