It is painfully obvious that you have never even read the book and the meticulously detailed account of how this highly intelligent but completely unethical sociopath manipulated an honest, hardworking and (unfortunately too) trusting businessman and other professionals for his own personal profit. THE COURT UNDERSTOOD THAT, WHY CAN'T YOU? Your attempt to redeem Art Van through mentioning his contributions to charity or other causes is a weakly disguised attack on Michael and you should be ashamed of yourself for being bought. You claim that you have done business with Art Van and you "don't feel any differently about him". That sounds like complete BS as I am sure you would never bite the hand that feeds. YOU SHOULD ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK instead of basing your comments simply on your feelings (or cash flow). Your defense of Art Van is a pathetic example of the uninformed and gullible being used as pawns by a charlatan. I urge you to be cautious in the future as you will eventually find that to people like Art Van anyone, even a completely brainwashed supporter, can be thrown under the bus when it is convenient. Based on your comments it almost sounds like you would throw yourself under the bus for him. I feel sorry for you.
@Michael - Your story is truly a compelling example of an american business icon gone bad. Heartless, greedy and with a complete lack of compassion for ones fellow man, Art Van is revealed as a scoundrel in such minute detail that the story can lead to only one logical conclusion. That this man is a rabid wolf preying on, and destroying, the best of the best of our professional service providers. This answer is inescapable due to the fact that you have documented every facet of this terribly tragic story. It is a very sad commentary that there has not been one publication that has the balls to tell this story and help protect the public and business sector from further damage. I personally see it as a typical sell out by the soulless, "anything for a buck", press and news media. If it was NOT true he would of sued me a long time ago. Because it is from a lawsuit, which I won even after he appealed it through the Michigan Supreme Court is all PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE. Just read the first 11 Chapters and be enlightened to TRUTH.

I just happened to be somebody who paid a general contractor money up front and he disapeared with it. It was nice to hear about people with integrity and who care about the work they respresent. So, what was the outcome of the arbitration??? You can't leave me hanging like that!!!
